Hey Shoe, didn't mean to insult your pick, and you're right... smaller games shouldn't be disqualified. It's just hard for me to imagine a scenario where I would place handheld, Live or PSN games, or smaller budget titles in the same category as 40 million dollar console or PC games. I mean, how odd would it be for a DS game to win GotY? Sure, DS games are fun, but even the best one's provide a watered down experience that is hard to take seriously when compared to the best console games. If Plants vs. Zombies can win GotY, why not an updated version of Mah-jong or even Peggle for that matter?
Peggle was awesome, but not once throughout the entire 40 or 50 hours I played it did it cross my mind to consider it as GotY, even though it was incredible. But, this is my opinion, and I respect yours Shoe :)
I love Plants vs. Zombies just as much as the next guy, but not sure it should be GotY. Should have given it to a much larger, higher value console or PC title...can't really include downloadable games..can we? That's like Napolean Dynamite winning Best Picture.
@ Synthessence - Does Fallout 3 fall into your generalization of first-person shooters? How about Bioshock? Yeah, you're shooting stuff obviously, but that's only a small portion of what Rage offers. Did you like Oblivion? That's technically a first-person shooter...if you mainly used a bow that is. See how silly this all sounds.
And man...is that new Metroid gonna suck or what...I mean all you do is run from left to right shooting stuff....that went out in the 80's. What was Team Ninja thinking?
Way to label all Beatles fans as "Losers" Memphis :) But yeah, The Beatles might be may last choice EVER for Rock Band set, but I'm sure it will seel millions just because people love buying crap like this. Trying to relive their glory days or something.
Nice...been playing this all morning and love it so far. A little difficult, but that's how it should be. Old-school ftw.
